Acceptance of Terms
The Genome Variation Server is available to you subject to the Terms of Service described on this page. Your use
of GVS constitutes your agreement to these terms and conditions.
Purpose of GVS
GVS is designed to disseminate information developed through support of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, and is
managed by Dr. Deborah Nickerson at the Department of Genome Sciences, University of Washington. GVS serves the University of
Washington's mission to disseminate knowledge in the public interest. This information is provided under the following terms and
conditions.
GVS provides a simple tool for rapid access to human genotype data found in dbSNP for research purposes. GVS is subject to
change without notice.
Privacy Policy
The IP addresses of your computer and your query parameters are being saved in log files, in order that we can monitor the loading
of the server and improve response. Statistics of usage are collected from these log files to justify the funding of the effort.
University of Washington is an agency of the State of Washington and as such has obligations to maintain public records under
RCW 42, which potentially requires us to provide GVS log files and data records if requested by anyone through the proper process.
Use of GVS
GVS is intended for your educational or research purposes. All materials and services provided on GVS are protected by copyright
or other intellectual property rights, and are owned or controlled by the University of Washington, except as noted otherwise.
Confidentiality
All data submitted to GVS may become publicly accessible, and the University of Washington does not guarantee confidentiality.
Modification to Terms of Service
The University of Washington reserves the right to change these Terms of Service. The current Terms of Service will always be posted
at GVS. The University of Washington reserves the right to suspend maintenance or service of GVS at any time and without notice.

THE INFORMATION, DATA, PROTOCOLS, AND SOFTWARE AVAILABLE ON GVS ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND,
EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF TITLE, NONINFRINGEMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, AND IMPLIED

Limitation of Liability
The entire risk for use of GVS lies with the user. The University of Washington reserves the right to modify GVS or reduce or

professional services. GVS is experimental in nature, and has been developed as part of research conducted at the University
of Washington.
